The Spoof Net Presents The ToonTown Spoofer Official Guide
MakePackage: Give ToonTown a Personal Touch!Welcome to The ToonTown Spoofer's MakePackage tool!
MakePackage has been designed to assist in creating custom content to be used inside of ToonTown. Please note that this program is NOT bug free and will probably crash at one time or another, so save files often! If you experience crashes, email or post on the forums any and all information, what happened, what you were doing and any error message that appears. Due to the volume of files this tool handles, we opted to design it for multiple processors and therefore it utilizes multi-threading and will benefit from computers with multiple processors.
You can change any image or audio file inside ToonTown. You cannot change any 3d models, executables, libraries, collision files, dna files or files from phase_1 or phase_2. These types of files will not be imported into MakePackage, The ToonTown Spoofer or SpoofStorage. Here are the types of files that can be changed with MakePackage:
Your Package DetailsTo open MakePackage, open the Content Pack window and click the "Create Your Own!" button.
(figure 1.0)The MakePackage window will then open, during which files from ToonTown will be loaded.
(figure 1.1)
The first tab in MakePackage encompasses the information section of your package. The fields presented inside are used in the Content Pack window, when updating and on SpoofStorage (or any site that you upload to).
hash=320be436e58b03304a9024afe110e30c downloadurl=http://www.yoursite.com/contentpacks/mypack.ttpIf when the file is downloaded, if the hash does not match the current hash, the file defined by downloadurl will be downloaded. Again, setting this up is not needed if you plan on uploading to SpoofStorage where it is automatically created. You can click the "Generate Update Script" button to generate a file for checking for updates.
To begin changing files inside of ToonTown, click the Your Package Files tab.
(figure 2.0)The files listed are split into two categories, Your Files on the left and Regular Files on the right. This allows you to compare what you will be replacing them with. In the above screenshot we have a building in CashBot HQ, the left side is the NightLife image, the right is the regular ToonTown image. If you are looking for specific files, you can utilize the File Filter which will filter out files which do not match your criteria. Enter in single search terms such as "phase_3.5/maps/couch.jpg" (no quotes) or try "+jpg +couch" to find any file with jpg AND couch in it's path or terms such as "+jpg -phase_3" which will include all jpg files except those in phase 3.
MakePackage takes advantage of Windows Media Player to preview audio files directly. To preview an audio file, enter in "+mp3" (no quotes) into the file filter, select a file and click the play button on the player.
There are several options for modifying files inside your Content Pack, here is a description of each one:
Both Your Files and Regular Files have an export button at the bottom of the window, this allows you to save the selected file for editing.
You may want to preview content before installing into ToonTown. The Bam Files tab will help you to do so which can enable you to test new content fast. Before getting started, you will need to download and install a free copy of Panda3D. There is a specific assembly file known as pView which enables viewing of 3D models of ToonTown's type. MakePackage automates the process and loads your models (or ToonTown's) for previewing.
(figure 3.0)The Bam Files tab has numerous buttons, lets run through what they do and how to use them!
- #1: build live index: This creates an index of all 3D models inside of ToonTown and which textures they use.
- #2: load saved index: This loads a previously saved index of all files, and their MD5 hashes then compares each of them to display which ones have changed.
- #3: save life index: This saves the current index to a file for later use in comparing changed files.
- #4: browse to temp storage: MakePackage needs a temporary directory to store files for previewing ToonTown models. MakePackage loads files straight from ToonTown's files into this folder, after which they may be deleted.
- #5: browse to my storage: This is the location where your files will be saved at. The directory structure should match that of ToonTown's directory structure. When previewing 3D models, if you do not have all the necessary files for the model, ToonTown's files will be used.
- #6: browse to Panda's pView: Select Panda3D's pView application for previewing 3d models, which can be found in Panda3D's installation folder (example: C:\Panda3D\bin\pview.exe).
- #7: browse to image editor: (optional) Select the application to open images with.
- #8/9: Bam Files and Bam Images are directly related to each other. Bam Files are ToonTown's 3D models, and Bam Images are the images used by these models. Double click on a Bam file to see what images are used by it, or double click on a image to view the models used by it.
- #10: The File Filters enable you to quickly locate a 3D model or image.
- #11: show images from selected Bam: Equivalent to double clicking a Bam, this will show the images the selected Bam uses.
- #12: reset / show all Bam files: Clears any search or filters and shows all Bam files loaded.
- #13: open live Bam in pView: This loads the selected Bam into pView with ToonTown's files.
- #14: open live Bam with my files: This loads the selected Bam into pView with the files inside "my storage" aka Your Files.
- #15: show Bams from the selected image: Equivalent to double clicking an image, this will show the Bam files the selected image uses.
- #16: reset / show all image files: Clears any search or filters and shows all image files loaded.
- #17: show in package files: Shows the selected image file in the Your Package Files tab.
- #18: save image in my files: Copies the file into "my storage".
- #19: open image in editor: Opens the selected image file with an image editor.
- #20: rgb.jpg->rgb: This will recursively search "my storage" for files ending in rgb.jpg and convert them to RGB files.
- #21: PNG->JPG + RGB: This is the easiest way to create JPG + RGB files. If the file you are working on has a corresponding rgb file, save your file as a PNG file with transparency. Then, you can split them by clicking this button and selecting that file.
- #22: JPG <-> RGB: This will convert a JPG to a RGB or an RGB to a JPG.
The File Menu enables you to create, load or save Content Packs. Be sure to save often and backup your Content Pack and files!
You can use HUGE images and sounds, however watch out for performance. The larger the image, the slower ToonTown will load and play. Most images also are square, in sizes such as 128x128, 512x512, 1028x1028. ToonTown seems to work the best as long as they are multiples of 64. Regular ToonTown files are extremely small and compressed.
SpoofStorage is a server we have setup to host user created Content Packs. It is free to use for any member and all Content Packs uploaded will show up in the Content Pack window when a user clicks "Open SpoofStorage for More Packs". To use SpoofStorage, you should register on our forums, then after logging in, click the SpoofStorage link at the top link bar or visit http://www.spoofstorage.com After which, you can
You should check out Disney’s Terms of Use. Most likely you cannot use their content without breaking the terms of use agreement. If you wish to change a complicated image, click the extract button and save the file somewhere. Then check out how it is drawn to get a better idea how to create something new!
You cannot change any 3d models, executables, libraries, collision files, dna files and no files from phase_1 or phase_2 under any circumstances!
